A personalized URL is a web page or microsite that is tailored to an individual visitor through the use of variable fields and pages that re- linked to a database that contains information about each potential visitor. A common example of a PURL is a web page with a URL such as www.JoeSmith.mypurl.com in which Joe Smith is the recipient who receives a direct mail or email message that encourages him to visit the web page.
